Wendy Tapping honoured with OBE

Payroll Giving Month partner and Hands on Payroll Giving’s CEO, Wendy Tapping, has been awarded an OBE in the 2026 New Year Honours List for her outstanding services to fundraising.

This prestigious recognition reflects more than 30 years of unwavering commitment to Payroll Giving. During that time, Wendy has helped over 200,000 employees support the causes they care about, generating more than £82 million for charities across the UK.

But as Wendy herself is quick to point out, this honour is about far more than one individual. Like Payroll Giving Month, it shines a well-deserved spotlight on this form of giving—a simple, tax-efficient, and sustainable way to give that has too often been overlooked, despite its proven impact on charities both large and small.

“I am truly honoured to receive this recognition,” Wendy says, “but what makes it even more meaningful is that it highlights Payroll Giving itself. This award belongs to everyone who gives through their payroll, every employer who makes it possible, and the dedicated team who work tirelessly to keep this mission moving forward.”

Wendy’s vision for the future is clear and ambitious: to see Payroll Giving become a standard, mandatory offering in every UK organisation. When giving is this easy and effective, it has the power to transform charitable fundraising for generations to come.

As we celebrate Payroll Giving Month, we are delighted to see Wendy’s efforts recognised—not just for her, but for the entire payroll giving community and the difference it continues to make.
