Payroll Giving Month Launches National Drive to Get 1,000 More UK Businesses Giving
The Payroll Giving Month Campaign has today launched a new nationwide push to encourage 1,000 UK businesses to introduce Payroll Giving schemes for their employees.
Running throughout February, Payroll Giving Month raises awareness of Payroll Giving — a simple, tax-efficient way for employees to donate directly to UK charities from their gross salary. Because donations are taken before tax, employees can give more at no extra cost, while charities receive regular, reliable income without needing to claim Gift Aid.
A Call to Employers Nationwide
Campaign organisers are urging employers of all sizes to introduce Payroll Giving for the first time, positioning it as a straightforward, high-impact way to strengthen workplace wellbeing and social responsibility.
An easy-to-follow ‘how-to’ guide has been developed to help businesses set up a scheme quickly and efficiently.
“Payroll Giving is one of the most effective yet underused ways for employees to support charity,” said Caroline Gaskin, Charity Manager at Together for Animals, who is leading on the campaign this year. “Payroll Giving Month is about raising awareness and removing barriers, and now we are encouraging businesses to take a simple step that can have a lasting impact for charities, just like ours, and for the sector as a whole”.
Minister for Civil Society Stephanie Peacock said: "Payroll Giving is a brilliant example of how businesses, employees and charities can work together to make a real difference. It's simple to set up, offers immediate tax benefits for employees, and provides charities with the regular, reliable income they need to plan ahead and deliver vital services.
"I'm delighted to support Payroll Giving Month and the ambition to bring 1,000 more businesses on board. I'd encourage any employer who hasn't yet considered a scheme to take a look at how easy it can be to offer their staff this meaningful way to give back."
Kieran Harding, Acting Chief Executive of Business in the Community (BITC), added: "We are proud to reaffirm our long-standing commitment to the Payroll Giving scheme as we support Payroll Giving Month 2026. BITC champions workplace giving and the support of charities and other community organisations as a simple yet powerful way for employees to make a difference. Real change happens when businesses support and collaborate with their local communities. Our continued support of the scheme reflects our belief that collaboration between businesses and communities is vital in creating lasting social impact and strengthening the connection between businesses and the communities in which they operate."
